Call for abstracts: BioValue hosts a special session at the AESOP annual congress – DEADLINE EXTENDED

The special session “Transformative change in spatial planning for biodiversity: insights from innovative planning policies and practices” is open to spontaneous abstract submission.

AESOP 2024 Annual Congress will take place in Paris, on July 8-12, 2024. This year’s main theme, “GAME CHANGER? Planning for just and sustainable urban regions,” questions the global narrative of large events and internationalisation strategies, even more so when the ecological transition is at stake.

On behalf of BioValue project, M. Susana Orta-Ortiz, University of Trento, and Yuanzao Zhu, UFZ, are organising the special session 14 to address what needs to be changed (and how) in spatial planning in order to fairly mainstream different forms of biodiversity values and views. For this purpose, they invite submissions that explore the role of spatial instruments such as plans and programmes, and other instruments and approaches employed in spatial planning policy and practice such as strategic and financial instruments, ecosystem services mapping and assessment methods, environmental assessment, and the implementation of the mitigation hierarchy.

DEADLINE EXTENSION: Submit your abstract by 30 January 2024 at this link: Submissions | AESOP Annual Congress proceedings (aesop-planning.eu)
